HOW TO APPLY EDGE BANDING
There are a few different ways to apply plywood edge banding, but the most common method is to use a hot melt glue. The glue is applied to the back of the edge banding, and then the banding is pressed onto the edge of the plywood. Once the glue has cooled, the edge banding will be securely attached.
Plywood edge banding is fantastic for making furniture. It’s super strong, it comes in large sheets and most importantly it is dimensionably stable. So we don´t need to worry about warping. One thing that’s not so nice about it are the edges. This is a very simple way of covering them up and it can look really nice.
WHAT MATERIALS YOU NEED
Thick wood veneer. Any type will work, but I reccomend getting thicker stuff. Mine was 1/10 Inch or 2.54mm. Anything thinner would be easy to sand through by accident. You could also get a solid board of hardwood and cut it down into thin strips. If you use thicker strips you have enough meat to add a round over if you like
Regular Wood Glue. (You don´t need waterproof wood glue for bathrooms. Only if it is actually getting wet.)

Cut the Veneer Into Strips
There are a few different ways to cut veneer into strips, depending on the width of the strips you need and the tools you have available. Here are a few methods.
Using a straightedge and utility knife
Tape the veneer to a flat surface, such as a workbench or MDF board. This will help to prevent the veneer from moving around while you’re cutting it.
Mark the width of the strips you need on the veneer using a pencil and straightedge.
Place the straightedge along one of the marks you made, and score the veneer lightly with a utility knife. Be careful not to cut all the way through the veneer at this point.
Once you have scored all the way along the line, bend the veneer along the score line to break it.
Repeat steps 3-4 to cut the remaining strips.
Using a table saw
If you need to cut very thin strips of veneer, you can use a table saw with a scoring blade. A scoring blade is a thin blade that cuts through the top layer of the veneer without cutting all the way through. This will help to prevent the veneer from chipping or tearing.
Set the width of the fence on your table saw to the width of the strips you need.
Place the veneer against the fence and carefully push it through the saw.
Here are some additional tips for cutting veneer
Use a sharp blade. A dull blade will tear the veneer rather than cutting it cleanly
Score the veneer lightly before bending it. This will help to prevent the veneer from cracking.
Support the veneer as you cut it. It helps to prevent it from breaking.
Cut with the grain of the wood whenever possible. This will help to prevent the veneer from splitting.
Make sure the plywood edge is clean and free of dust and debris.
Cut the edge banding to the correct length.
Apply the glue evenly to the back of the edge banding.
Press the edge banding onto the plywood edge and hold it in place for a few seconds.
Use a trim router to trim off any excess edge banding.
Sand the edge banding smooth.
